So, if you haven’t yet seen the show, fate has graced you with one more opportunity; don’t miss out!

Cape Town Fire

Cape Town picture of fire

Dramatic picture of the fire on Table Mountain. A big thank you goes out to all the brave firefighters that spent most of Thursday night preventing the raging fires from engulfing people’s homes.

A-r-s-on suspected with Table Mountain fire

A 36 year old British citizen were arrested and charged with a-r-s-o-n and culpable homicide for the death of another elderly British lady that went walking on the mountain Thursday. Her daughter ran for help, but rescue workers could not reach her in time. The daughter provided information leading to the man’s arrest. He will appear in the Cape High Court this morning.

[update]
It appears that the guy was actually a smoker who neglected to kill his cigarette butt. A whole debate is now raging on what kind of punishment he’s up against, but most feel that a heavy fine would be in order since his intentions weren’t to set the mountain on fire…

Table Mountain Burning

Ok, the slopes are definately on fire, we saw some huge flames on the front face and towards the right half of the front face of Table Mountain. I hope it’s not close to houses… Damn the wind is pumping…

Cape Town Burning

It appears that Table Mountain is burning low down on the slopes towards Tamboerskloof / Kloof Nek. The smoke is thick and black and lets just hope that it’s not houses burning. The wind is not helping at all. It’s blowing quite strong. I’ll report back with the aftermath…

Antique Restaurant, no antique at all

‘Antique’ Restaurant is situated accross from Hemisphere club in the ABSA building in Cape Town, on the 31st floor (might be 32nd). It’s obviously got all the view that Hemisphere has and also a nice cosy bar with dramatic styling, giving it an antique feel, yet modern and sophisticated on the seated restaurant side. The food tastes and looks great. The starters (those sharing dishes) were just a bit pricey for what we got, but all in all a nice evening out. Be sure to make your bookings well in advance though and don’t even think about not wearing a collared shirt and sneakers…

Kitesurfing and Windsurfing in Cape Town

Cape Town is South Africa’s premier kitesurfing and windsurfing capitol. Blaauwberg strand (also spelt Blouberg) is a world famous spot that is visited on a continuous basis by world renowed windsurfers and kitesurfers. The prevailing winds are South East in the summer months and North West in the winter months, which means that you can windsurf during the summer and winter. Obviously the summer months of October - March are most popular. There are surf shops in Table View that serve both the windsurfing and kitesurfing communities, so you can get your kit there and I’m sure they have for rent as well. - update brought to you by Beachbum.co.za

Factory Shops in Cape Town

The most famous factory shops in Cape Town is probably Access Park, just off the M5 highway in Kenilworth. There are probably more than 50 shops to choose from, selling clothing at factory and normal prices. You can get some great bargains if you hunt, but men beware, your wives will go into a buying spree!! +27 (0)21 683 5885

Tombini South Africa

Can anyone tell me what Tombini South Africa is? I’ve noticed a trend and now it’s getting the better of my curiosity. Tombini South Africa searches on Google doesn’t bring up anything in particular, so I’m interested to know what caused this Tombini splash…anyone?
