See Van Coke Kartel For FREE Tonight!

Great tip-off from Cape Town Magazine: If you’re in the Table View area tonight, 25 September 2009, go to Stones where local rockers Van Coke Kartel will be performing. The cover charge for this fabulous concert/party event is… all of NOTHING!

That’s right, entrance is free. No catch.

This benevolence forms part of Stones Table View’s "Down with the Recession" parties taking place every Friday night during September - which makes tonight the final freebie event. Stones is also running some of the biggest bar specials to coincide with these parties. The crew at Stones is apparently of the belief (like we are!) that you should not have to break the bank in order to have a great time.

Stones Table View is located on the first floor of Blaauwberg Mall which is located on the corner of Blaauwberg & Marine Drive in Table View.

Celebrate with Food at The Assembly Tonight!

It has already been referred to as a slice of cutting-edge London or New York in the Mother City, and tonight it is celebrating its first birthday by throwing a huge bash to which we are all invited.

And what a year it has been for The Assembly. By bringing fine international music (the likes of Krush, QBert, Spooky, Fink, Man Like Me, Bebi Temba, Buraka Som Sistema, Sarah Bettens), up-country stars (Zebra & Giraffe, 340ml, Gang Of Instrumentals, Flash Republic, 340ml) and local talent (Freshlyground, Fokofpolisiekar, aKing, Sweat.X, RealEstateAgents, Dirty Skirts, Lark) to our ears, it has positioned itself firmly on Cape Town’s music and entertainment map.

Also on the bill for this evening: Sibot, DJ Low, Klinikal, Liver and Alex.

Tiger Tiger Cape Town

Situated in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town (oposite Cavendish Shopping Centre) in the bowling complex, this is a great club for everyone. They often have events and specials running. Tiger Tiger has enough bars so that you don’t have to wait long to get a drink and some great music. It ranges from pop and oldies to the latest pumping tunes for the dance enthusiasts. It’s not a dance club per se, but a nice bar/club experience with enough seating as well.

Kimberley Hotel

Ok, I know, it’s confusing, the Kimberley Hotel in Cape Town, but nonetheless, it’s here and it’s still happening. Not your average night out, but I couldn’t believe the cheap drinks (R10 for a double brandy and coke or a single whiskey). It’s fun for watching rugby, but can get cramped if you haven’t got a table. It’s ‘rof en onbeskof’, but we love it! Find it on the corner of Buitenkant and Roeland Streets near Parliament. Aparently the rooms have been refurbished and it now boasts conference facilities etc. Call them on +27 21 461 2160 for more info.
